By virtue of its unequivocal and constant commitment to the university community, IULMA has created a translation unit whose basic objective is the transfer of specialised linguistic and technical knowledge through the provision of academic translations and other related services (proofreading and editing, project and quality management, terminology databases, translation memories, etc.).
IULMA has researchers and professionals with extensive and proven experience in the field of specialised translation (scientific-technical, legal, medical, audiovisual, architecture, etc.) and other areas of general translation (marketing, tourism, press, etc.). In addition, IULMA collaborates in the management and implementation of translation projects within the university with Tecnolingüística S.L., a company derived from research (spin-off of the University of Valencia), dedicated to offering all kinds of language services(www.tecnolinguistica.com).
The aim of the translation unit is to transfer this specialised knowledge to the departments, units and services at the three campuses, by translating summaries or scientific and academic articles, institutional information, proofreading and editing scientific and academic texts, etc. Likewise, taking advantage of previous experience, the unit will focus on signing agreements with local or community public bodies (city councils, provincial councils, the Generalitat, etc.). IULMA’s seal of approval guarantees the quality of the service from project management onwards, ensuring a meticulous correction and editing process. The professionals working in the translation unit have extensive experience in research in the field in which they translate and in the management of the technical resources used. The translation unit uses the Online Translation Management (OTM) translation project management tool. This tool allows, among other functions, the correct organisation of each translation assignment from the initial estimate to the execution within the agreed deadlines.
