Goals

To go deeply into the various levels and domains of Spanish as a specialized language from a descriptive point of view as well as from the perspective of teaching it as a foreign language.

 

Research lines
  1. Ranging from the basic to the most specialized vocabulary. The study of SOanish lexicon from different specialized fields. The analysis of specialized dictionaries. The creation of databases and models to elaborate specialized dictionaries for language mediators. The elaboration of specialized dictionaries for language mediators.
  2. From the common to the most professional and academic Spanish. The study of grammatical categories and the constructive schemes that characterize sentential and discursive grammar in the different specialized fields.
  3. Pragmatics, text and discourse. From the common to the most professional and academic Spanish. The study of textual genres and the rhetorical/communicative strategies of professional and academic Spanish. The use of pragmatic and discourse mechanisms in negotiation of meaning.
  4. Teaching and learning professional and academic Spanish. We conduct research on the different models and resources for teaching and learning specialized discourse in Spanish, either as a mother tongue or as a foreign language.
